At its inception in 2012, the Agriculture Industry Labour Council of Alberta (AILCA) consisted entirely of representatives from the farming sector. A goal of the organization was to share information on labour issues and seek common solutions to address challenges faced by the industry. In addition, AILCA’s goal was to encourage a working partnership with the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta. Since that time, AILCA has expanded its representation to include food processors and broadened its representation within primary agriculture as well. AILCA members attempt to get together four times annually – usually two in-person meetings and two conference calls. AILCA has hosted two Labour Summits, one in 2014 and most recently in October of 2015. Join this year for the 2016 Agricultural Labour Summit in Olds!
